How Many Times Should You Tweet Daily?

After you have built your list of people you follow it’s time for some action. The question is how many times should you tweet.

The answer is the amount of times you have meaningful things to say. For some people 10 times is the correct amount of interactions per day, for others 100 is the correct amount. The way you know is based on when what you will say will actually help the person you are messaging to. If you have 100s of questions every day then you better be answering all of them, but if you are just posting for the sake of hitting a number of posts them chances are no one wants to listen to what you have to say.

That being said, you need to understand that there are two types of posting on twitter. The first is tweeting out to everyone. The second is responding to tweets. For the first type of posting can be planned in advance. Find content both generic and specific topics to cover that your audience will be interested in and plan the posts throughout the day. You can use a scheduling app like Buffer to schedule these posts. You can schedule each post every hour or every other hour. You should not expect this type of posting to get you such great results, but it keeps your account fresh in people’s minds.

The second type of posting is way more important, let me explain. For every post of the first type you tweet in a day, you should post 10-15 of the second type. Twitter is about getting deep into conversations.

Since you were very specific when choosing who you are following your newsfeed is a great place to comment and respond to people’s tweets, but this is nowhere near enough to get exposed. Every day there tons of things going on all over Twitter that you can jump in on and respond to. Every day there are chats specific to certain niche markets. Do some research, and try to find a twitter chat in your niche. Twubs has an extensive list of chats, so check them out. If you can’t find a good chat in your niche then start one and get others to join in. You can also use Twitter Search to discover people talking about your niche. This will take time, but there are plenty of people to talk to, and if you can’t find anyone to talk to, maybe you need to start talking about something else.

Spend some time looking for people using hashtags specific to your niche. Write them all in a list, and save them on your computer. Every day search those hashtags and scroll down the list looking for people to respond to, like, or retweet. This will give you plenty to say, and it will allow you to tweet as much as 100 or more times a day, and it will build your following, your reputation, and your brand.
