Browsing to Buying Tip 3: Act How Facebook Wants You to Act
There is an incredibly obvious way to get people to recognize your brand and be willing to buy from you that most people aren’t prepared to do, and it just to act how Facebook wants you to act.
Imagine if your posts were all articles your audience was interested in reading about topics that weren’t just your brand, but other things that had to do with the lifestyle of someone who buys from you.
Imagine a world where you realized that people don’t like being sold to all day long, but rather they enjoy content, videos, photos, etc.
Imagine a world where you enjoyed making this content for them because without ever telling them to buy from you they would come back over and over again to see that content, and they would love to buy from you.
Imagine that Facebook is about the users and not about the businesses trying to advertise, where Facebook didn’t want to show users sales pitch after sales pitch.
This imaginary world where you find people who actually like the content you put up, are excited about getting more content, where they are ready to commit, and they do it without you asking exists, but you have to be willing to put the time in, and most businesses aren’t.
So here is what you do. Think hard, really hard about who your true audience is. Is it women in Miami Florida between the ages of 20-40 who like yoga, crossfit and paleo diet? Or is it men, 30-45 who like beer, football and bikinis.
Once you truly know who this audience is spend one week finding or creating content, 20-30 pieces of content that are about yoga, crossfit, and paleo, or beer, football, and bikinis, put them on your site (if you’re legally allowed to) and post them on your wall for a month. Make sure the images fit into Facebook’s format, that the headline is good, and the description tells enough to get people interested.
Then and only then, start running a like campaign targeting these exact people. At the same time continue to put up more content.
At the end of two months look at what kind of engagement rates you have. Most pages have a 2% engagement rate. If you do this, as I explained, I wouldn’t be surprised if your engagement rate is above 10%. Why? Because you gave people what they wanted and they came back for more.
Now look at your sales numbers and see if they went up? If you did it right they will, and you never even needed to pitch your products.
Of course, I would advise running dark posts for sales to highly targeted small groups of people in your audience.
I would bet that running a page this way will work better in the long run than any other social media tactic.
