When connecting your site with 3rd party services you will most likely need to set up a CNAME. There are several types of services that will require setting this up. Many sites that allow for tracking pixels will require you to set this up. Another type of service that will require this are sites that allow you to make landing pages. (We may talk about these types of services in the future.)
Now, what does a CNAME mean? In English it is basically something that tells your server to give and receive information from a different server. So when you want your site to have Google Analytics you need to set up a one, and when you want to be listed on Alexa you may need to make one.
What does it do when you set it up? Let’s say you want all of your landing pages to start with the offers followed by the URL? So the CNAME is “offers” if you want your tracking links to start with “a” then just write a. Then the link will be a.YOURURL.com
How do you set it up? Go to your cPanel and in the domains section find the “Simple DNS Zone Editor.” In there go to the second section called “Add a CNAME Record.” In the first box type in whatever you want the name to be, and in the second box you need to find the CNAME record from the 3rd part service and simply copy it into that box. Most services will tell you want the record is when they ask you to set up the CNAME, so it should be easy to find. Then, just click “Add CNAME Record” and you are all set up.
The process usually takes a couple of hours to start working, so give it some time to start working.
