Who can be a better target audience than your email list?

The next audience to look into is your email list or phone list. With Facebook you can take a list of phone numbers, email addresses, Facebook IDs, or mobile advertiser IDs and connect it to automatically to existing accounts on Facebook. Then you can target those people with special ads just for them.

This is a great audience for everything. These are your best people, they already know your brand, they already get your content on a normal basis, they already signed up to learn more, what can be better than that? This is the type of audience that you should give special offers or secret prizes or events to. They are your most loyal followers, they are your tribe, so give them a little extra something.

To set up this group follow the same steps as website visitors, go to Audiences, then Create Audience, and select Custom Audience. and choose “Customer List.” Here you have 3 choices, (1) either import a document with the emails, phone numbers, or Facebook IDs, or mobile advertiser, (2) you can copy paste this list, or (3) connect your account directly to Mailchimp.

NOTE: According to international spam laws if someone unsubscribes from your email list you are not legally allowed to message them, this includes Facebook ads. If the person finds out they can sue you (and Facebook will respond by closing your ads account. So make sure to have the most updated list as possible, and every so often you should make a new Audience to guarantee that you don’t have any unsubscribed email addresses and are not missing any new people.
