Many people have a backup for their computer. Tons of people backup their videos and pictures but not enough people backup their websites. There are lot of plugins that you can use to backup your site. If your server gets damaged, if you accidentally delete your site or a hacker gets into your site and you have no backup then you need to start building from scratch. The best is Backup Buddy, this one costs $297, but it is the best option to backup, and it is easy to use.
There is a free option that I have on my site, it is called UpdraftPlus. After you have downloaded and activated the plugin find “Settings” on the sidebar and click “UpdraftPlus Backups.” The first thing you want to do is go to Settings on the top bar of the plugin and choose how often the plugin backups. There are two types of backups the Database and Full. Database just saves the basic website information, but a full backs up all of the posts, pages, media, plugins, etc. You should do a daily backup of the database, but a weekly full backup should be enough. On the reporting section make sure to checkmark the email box, so that you get a notification when a backup is done.
If you scroll down you are given an option to automatically connect the plugin with a remote storage app like Dropbox or Google Drive. (For $20 more you can connect more than 1 storage app.) Dropbox has a pretty straightforward process, but connecting Google Drive isn’t as simple, the instructions to do that are here. If you can avoid that you should.
After you’re all set up click save.
Now go to current status and click “Backup Now” this will start backing up your site. Depending on how much content your site has this can be a long process. After it finishes it should automatically get added to the storage app that you set up, and in addition in the existing backups tab you will see a place to download the files. It is a good idea to save these files on your computer’s hard drive and on a flash drive. This way, if the site goes down there will for sure be a backup that can get you back up ASAP.
The last thing you want is for something to go wrong and for you to lose everything, so set up a system that will allow you to backup everything on a normal basis.

I must explain that the everyday use of WordPress is a very simple and straightforward process, but the setup can be complicated at times and it is worth hiring an expert to make sure that it is done right the first time.
