When running a campaign think about what it is your customers want. Think first what would be of value to the customer then write the ads. If you come in with the mindset that you want to sell and you write from that perceptive the likelihood is that the ads will be costly and not very effective. But, if you come with the approach of what is most valuable to your audience, what do they like, how would they word it, what picture they would most like to click on, etc. then your ads are more likely to succeed.
Ask yourself these questions:
“Would I buy what I am trying to sell to others?”
“Would I want to be targeted based on these things?”
“Would I click on this ad?”
“If I saw this picture would I click on it?”
If you come with this perspective, then you are already ahead of the game on Facebook.
Too many companies come into Facebook with the approach of a salesman, this is bound to fail because Facebook knows people hate being sold to, but if you create an ad that has helpful content that the audience would love then Facebook will show your ads to those people.
