There are two types of people in the world, those that make the news and those that read/watch the news. The same is true on Twitter; there are the influencers and there are consumers.
Influencers are usually the accounts with hundred’s of thousands of likes. These types of people usually remove themselves from twitter conversation by simply putting out content but not consuming anything. They puts out about one message a day and I’m sure they aren’t spending their time reading through all of their tweets/Facebook messages/etc. When building a twitter account you must be able to know who the influencers are and who the consumers are in your niche, and make sure to treat them differently. I explained yesterday that there are four possible reactions to every tweet.
You need to remember that while it happens very occasionally, it is highly unlikely that an influencer will reply to a tweet (as much as we all would like to believe that they will) but there is a chance that the influencer will favorite or retweet the post. Here is where you come in!
Your job is to show how well you know your stuff when the influencer is asked a question. Let’s say a consumer replies to a tweet of Nike’s with a question. It is highly unlikely that Nike will be there to respond, so jump into the conversation with your expert opinion. The trick is to follow every influencers in your circle, read every tweet they put out and look for people messaging those influencers. These people are your greatest target audience! If you can prove to enough of these people that you know your stuff they may start asking you questions directly. Of course, this won’t happen overnight, but with enough good content and sage advice people will eventually start trusting you. Even with a very small following people may start considering you an influencer.
This is a tip I have been using myself and it has been working amazingly well!
