Besides basic text tweets there are three other types of posts:
- Photos
- Polls
- Videos
There are tons of studies that show that photos do very well on Twitter. I highly recommend trying photos in your tweets. If you are worried about having high quality photos to use there are plenty of stock image website to use to find good stuff to use. Here is a link to an article with a list of great resources for free photos. If you are worried about the quality of the editing being horrible you can use Canva for free and make decent looking images. It is definitely worth using images every so often in your tweets, and you will likely see an increase in impressions and engagement from them.
Twitter recently released a new type of tweet, polls. Polls allow you to ask a two choice question to your followers. The catch is that it only takes answers for 24 hours. While this feature sounds fun, unless you have a lot of active followers you probably won’t get much response from polls. Of course, like everything it is worth testing, so make sure to give polls a try. If you are going to use them make sure to use a hashtag or a commonly searched term to get the poll more exposure.
The last type of tweet is definitely the most powerful of all. A twitter video should be your company’s secret weapon. The max length for a Twitter video is 30 seconds long. As I explained in previous tips, reach out to other accounts, answer questions with a 15-25 second video.
I heard about a glasses company that took this very seriously in 2015. They responded to all customer issues with twitter videos. This meant that they were creating tons of short videos that answered people’s questions. What do you think happened? People were so touched for this personal touch that they usually retweeted, told their friends, and bought more from this company later.
I am sure you have heard that video is the future of marketing, and that you need to start creating video content. Twitter videos are a definitely a great place to start, short, personal, and informative content.
