Many people wonder when the best time to tweet is. Some say morning others say at night while all your fans are asleep.
With twitter it is known that most of the views on your tweet will occur within the first 2 hours of your post. In the analytics it shows every single tweet that you posted and all of the activity that each tweet got. After hours of analyzing this data I realized it is literally totally random. Some posts just get nowhere fast and others get seen for weeks after you post them. Of course, the answer is different for each following. If your following is in a specific area then you should be posting your best content in the time when they are actually awake.
As far as scheduled posts it is highly unlikely that you will get traction from these types of posts until you have a very active following, so you should schedule posts to go out every hour of the day, making sure the best content is posted in the morning before people go to work, during lunch time, and after people get home from work. These are times when people are most likely going to have time to check Twitter, and actually have time to interact with it.
For the response tweets time matter much less. Since you are replying to a specific conversation the account that you are responding to will see the tweet no matter what time you respond, so it is okay to reply at 3 in the morning. For chats and other hashtags that you have been watching timing can matter a little bit. Obviously, you want to be in the chat while it is actually happening, if possible, but for regular hashtags, that people may be searching or are interesting to them timing isn’t so important, as long as the hashtag is trending.
One of the biggest problem with Twitter is that there is so much being tweeted at any time. If someone is following 100+ accounts the likelihood is that they will never even see your tweets in their feed. So the only way to stand out is to jump into their conversations. Obviously, the best time to do that is to respond when they are online, but if you don’t know that then tweeting any time is fine.
