The next thing we will talk about is the discover tab. The discover tab is very interesting. You may not notice this but the most popular posts of the day are not shown here. What you see here is a list of posts that you specifically may be interested in. You will see posts from people who are similar to accounts that you follow, it will show posts based on hashtags you have searched or used, and it will show you posts based on posts that you have looked at.
I noticed several week’s ago that when someone in a group I was in on Facebook linked to a post with a picture of ballet on Instagram. I clicked to see that picture, then went to see the instagram account with this post. For the next 4 days I saw posts about ballet on my discover tab, even though I don’t really have any interest in ballet, but I did look at several posts about it. At this point, those posts have stopped showing up on my discover tab.
So, how should you use your discover tab for your business. Well, the first thing you need to do is follow quality accounts as we explained in the last tip. In addition, you should be looking for posts that your audience would like to see, and posting things that your audience would want to see. (Don’t forget that Facebook owns Instagram, so I am sure the things you like on Facebook also have an impact on your discover tab.)
If you do all of these things Instagram will build the perfect discover tab for you. You will see highly relevant content, that your audience will like. This will allow you to do all of the things we spoke about in the last tip, you can find more influencers, more companies in your space, and more potential customers.
The discover tab is a great tool to learn more about your audience, because if you are using Instagram like your target audience is you will likely see similar things, which can help you tailor your posts to fit this mold.
The discover tab is basically your Facebook News Feed within Instagram, but better. It is the best content from from around Instagram of things you specifically want to see more of. So make sure to use it to its potential.
Have you been using the discover tab to build and learn more about your audience?
