Two Features in the New Update
After you have gotten a small following and you have met other people in your space it is time to others to follow you. There are several tactics that I have seen work very well to get others to recommend you. If you have other ideas that work for you I can add them in future blasts.
Let’s say at this point you have spoken to 20 dusters and they are all following you. Make a blast saying “Hi, my name is _____. I just joined Cyber Dust and I am so excited to start meeting awesome people. I have already met these amazing dusters and they are great.” Then list 5-10 of the dusters that you met and maybe right one line about each one. At the bottom of the blast add your username. Make sure to make the blast public.
Most dusters by nature will reblast any blast with their name in it. So these 5-10 will now reblast it to their followers who in turn will most likely follow you or they will recommend you in a blast just like you did for them. You could probably make a list like this on a weekly basis and people will always reblast it, which gets you great exposure.
Another thing you can do when first starting off is to reach out to some dusters and just say “I am new, can you recommend me?” Many dusters are happy to recommend a new duster, and it is a fast way to get several dusters with a large following to recommend you.
The third tactic that I have found that does really well for early exposure if writing a blast about your experience on Cyber Dust. Make a blast about how much you love CD or what you have gained from CD and there is a good chance that it will be reblasted by many of your followers. While it is true that what happens on CD stays on CD it doesn’t mean that it can’t get reblasted everywhere.
The fourth tip I have seen that helps to get early followers is to make a challenge asking people to answer a question. Ask people what they think about a specific topic and many of them will most likely blast you out in their blast while answering your question.
The final trick to getting more followers is to have a birthday. I am not going to name names, but I have heard of people literally make up that it was someone’s birthday, which will cause others to blast out wishing that person a happy birthday, and then many many people will be blasting you out. I would suggest picking one day a year, hopefully on the actual day of your birth, and blast it out, it is likely that many people will blast out wishes for you, which will lead to new followers.
Obviously you should not use these tactics on an everyday basis, instead space out follow lists requests and tricks so that you don’t look like a horrible follower hungry person. The point of social media isn’t to get a bunch of people to follow you, it is to meet and connect with new people. When you are using CD make sure that this is your true incentive, because if you are just trying to trick the system people will start to notice, and you don’t want to end up on the infamous don’t follow list.
